Hearing Health Foundation reception

The Hearing Health Foundation (HHF) hosted a cocktail reception at the annual meeting of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, which was recently held at the Renaissance Hotel in Orlando, FL.  Drs. Masapollo and Nittrouer attended the event to network and talk science with other auditory researchers from across the country.

With generous support from HHF, Drs. Masapollo and Nittrouer are carrying out an innovative project aimed at characterizing speech motor control in congenitally deaf individuals who received cochlear implants, using state-of-the-art electromagnetic articulography.  Normative data with individuals with normal-hearing was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences.  The first insights into motor coordination in deaf talkers will be presented at the upcoming meeting of the Acoustical Society of America meeting, to be held in Chicago in May 2023!
